Ordering a Dumpster

How do I rent a dumpster?

What projects are roll-off dumpsters often used for?

Homeowners and contractors use roll-off dumpsters for home and office cleanouts, renovations, demolition, construction jobs, roofing tear-offs, landscaping projects and more.

Which size roll-off dumpster is right for my project?

It depends on the scale of your project, the type of debris and the delivery location. For a small driveway or heavy debris like concrete or rocks, a 10 yard bin is the right choice. For large remodels or demolition, a 40 yard container fits better. Not sure? Our team can recommend a size based on your debris.

Compare dimensions and capacity in our dumpster size guide.

Can I order additional dumpsters?

Yes. We can deliver several containers to one site or one bin to multiple job sites. If you fill your dumpster before the project is done, schedule a swap: we haul the full container away and drop off an empty one so your job never pauses.

Will my dumpster have a weight limit?

Yes. Each dumpster includes a weight allowance, typically between 1 and 5 tons depending on size, and our containers can safely hold up to 10 tons. Tell us what you're tossing and we'll help you pick the right allowance.

What will my dumpster look like?

The exterior color and shape can vary with our inventory, but the cubic volume is always the same as the size you ordered.

Dumpster Pricing

How much does it cost to rent a roll-off dumpster?

Prices depend on location, dumpster size, debris type, debris weight and rental length. You get one upfront, flat-rate price that includes delivery, pickup, a 7-day rental and disposal up to the included weight.

See current rates on our dumpster rental prices page.

What are dumpster fees?

Dumpster fees are charges separate from your upfront price that apply when a rental goes beyond the service agreement, for example overloading the container, exceeding the weight limit or tossing prohibited items.

Full list: dumpster fees and pricing policy.

Why does a dumpster cost so much?

Your upfront price covers landfill and transfer station fees, the container rental, fuel for delivery and pickup, and your driver's time. These costs are already built in, so what you see on your invoice is what you pay.

When do I pay for my dumpster rental?

You pay at the time of your order. Extra charges, such as weight overages or restricted items, can come up after the landfill report is in. If they apply, we'll contact you with details as soon as they're confirmed.

Delivery and Pickup

When will my dumpster be delivered?

Your dumpster can arrive at any time on your delivery day, and same-day delivery is available on most orders placed by 10 AM. Keep the delivery spot clear of vehicles and obstacles for the whole day.

Do I have to be present for delivery and pickup?

No. We take detailed placement instructions when you order and the driver drops the dumpster in your chosen spot. For pickup, just make sure the area around the bin is clear.

Will I need a permit to use my dumpster?

If the container stays on private property, like your driveway or job site, you usually don't need a permit. Street placement typically requires one from your city.

Learn more in our dumpster permit guide.

How do I schedule a pickup for my dumpster?

When you're done, schedule a pickup from your account or call our team. You don't need to be there; just keep the area around the dumpster clear.

Will a roll-off dumpster damage my driveway?

Damage is rare when the bin sits on a flat surface and stays within its weight limit. If you are concerned, lay plywood boards where the dumpster will sit to spread the load.

What do I do if my dumpster arrives with debris in it?

Take a photo of the container as soon as possible and send it to our team so we can keep it on file. No further action is needed on your part.

Will you let me know when my dumpster is delivered?

Yes. Ask our team for a delivery notification and we'll contact you after the driver drops off your bin.

Where will you put my dumpster?

We place dumpsters on a flat, paved surface. For home projects your driveway is usually ideal; on a construction site, a designated waste area works best. If there is no room on private property, we can place the bin on the street with a permit.

Dumpster Rental Period

How should I load my dumpster?

Start with heavy or bulky items, walk them through the door and spread the weight evenly. Then toss lighter material over the sides. Keep everything below the fill line; debris sticking out of the top can't be hauled.

What can I throw in my dumpster rental?

Most household junk, yard waste and construction materials are accepted. Flammable, toxic or hazardous waste is prohibited because it can damage the container or the landfill.

Check the full list of accepted and prohibited items.

How do I open my dumpster door?

Remove the safety latch or pin holding the door bar in place. If there is a chain, take it out of its slot. Then lift the door lever and push the door open.

How long can I keep my roll-off dumpster?

The standard rental period is 7 days. Finish early and we can pick up sooner; need more time and you can extend for a flat daily rate.

Should I cover my dumpster if it rains?

Yes. Rain soaks into debris and adds weight, which can push you past the weight limit and trigger a per-ton overage fee. A tarp keeps the load dry and your price predictable.

How do I prevent other people from using my dumpster?

Cover the bin, post a sign, avoid street placement when possible and ask neighbors to keep an eye out. You can also ask our team about locking bars.
